Scholarship Audition Information 2022
Instrumental & Vocal Music

Music Major
Instrumental & Vocal Music Majors will have the opportunity to work in small class settings throughout their two year term.
Non Music Majors are welcome to Audition
Students are welcome to audition regardless of major area of study.
Students are also required to participate in assigned performing ensembles each semester and scholarship awards can pay for up to 17 hours of academic courses in the fall and spring semesters. Summer scholarships are also available.

Audition Criteria
Music & Non-Music Major Below is important information regarding the scholarship application process for the IRSC Instrumental & Vocal Music programs.
For scholarship consideration, submit an audition video and submit the following:
All Participants
• Audition video
• Name & contact info
• Photo
• Date of graduation
• School Name
• Director’s Name
• Primary Instrument
• Secondary Instrument
• Indicate whether you are majoring in music
• Indicate whether you are interested in dormitory consideration
Submitting an Audition Video
To compete an audition video, please follow the specific guidelines below
Wind, String and Percussion Instruments
Create a video recording of all audition requirements with the following:
• 7 major scales of your choice (announce each scale)
• 2 musical excerpts of contrasting styles – one minute each
(no more than 5 minutes max per submission)
• Musical Excerpts should be from the Classical music repertoire • You can use your mobile phone to record your audition
• Upload your audition video using the web link below:

Vocal/Choral Music
Create a video recording of all audition requirements with the following:
• Prepare several contrasting selections (2 minute max per submission):
• Classical art song or folk song (foreign language or English)
• Popular song (top-40 or show tune or jazz standard)
• You can use your mobile phone to record your audition
• Upload your audition video using the web link below:

Rhythm Section instruments (Jazz Guitar, Bass, Piano, Drum set)
Create a video recording of all audition requirements with the following:
• Perform examples of 5 different jazz styles of your choice
(indicate the style before performing)
• 1 example of your most outstanding display of musicianship
(no more than 5 minutes total for submission)
• You can use your mobile phone to record your audition
